On the seventh anniversary of his death Pulwama attackPrime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the world has seen how India has punished terrorists. He also paid tribute to the CRPF soldiers who lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack.

Modi’s comments came during an election rally in Assam’s Guwahati district on Saturday.

The Prime Minister said, “Today is the anniversary of the Pulwama attack. I bow to the brave sons of Mother India who lost their lives in this attack. After this terrorist attack, the whole world witnessed how India punished the terrorists. Some people are still shaking today. You saw the strength of India in Operation Sindoor.”

The attack took place on 14 February 2019 when a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden car into a CRPF bus that was part of a convoy on the Srinagar-Jammu State Highway, resulting in the death of 40 CRPF personnel.

In an apparent attack on the Congress, PM Modi said, “Did we take a decisive lead during the Congress regime? Congress is raising questions about nationalism. Congress has never prioritized India’s security. The Northeast lived in fear because of Congress’s bad policies.”

The people of Assam have blessed the BJP-NDA and are ready to fully support it again in the upcoming Assembly elections. The excitement at today’s rally in Guwahati is unbelievable.

The Prime Minister further said that his government is laying great emphasis on strengthening the infrastructure in Assam.

“The Union Budget was presented a few days ago. This is my first post-Budget visit to the Northeast. The Northeast, which has been neglected by the Congress, is our priority and we are dedicated to its development. The Northeast is our Ashtalakshmi for us. We have strongly focused on the Northeast to make it economically independent,” he said.

“Congress even refuses to consider India as a nation. Those who do not show even the slightest respect for mother India can never work for the welfare of the country,” he added.

Assam will go to polls in the first half of this year.

The Prime Minister said that whenever he mentioned the North East earlier, it reminded people of poor infrastructure.

“And today such highways are being built where not only vehicles drive but even planes can land. This is a moment of pride. This is the changing spirit of Assam.”

He also said that the greatest honor of his life is to be a BJP worker.
