Enough is enough, it has to stop, says Karnataka Home Minister on constant leadership change speculation

February 13, 2026

While ministers and leaders of the ruling Congress have been speculating about a leadership change for weeks, Home Minister G. Parameshwara on Friday urged his party colleagues to stop speculating and focus on administration.

Instead of speculation, he said, the energy of the ruling party should be focused on governance and development.

“He will speak to High Command”

“I hope the party top brass is watching all this. I will also speak to the high command in this regard at the appropriate time. Enough is enough, this has to stop. People are watching us… their expectations are different. We should focus on development,” Mr. Parameshwara added while talking to reporters here.

Mr. Parameshwara said the high command knows what needs to be done when and will act accordingly, noting that the party leadership will take an appropriate decision at an appropriate time.

Home minister said, “Our AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge has gone to the extent of saying that everyone should keep their mouths shut. It cannot be stricter… Despite this, leaders and legislators are speaking on it (leadership issue), which is not appropriate. This has to stop.”

1000 days in office

Meanwhile, as the Congress government in Karnataka completed 1,000 days in office on Friday, Mr. Shivakumar was in Tumakuru for the Sri Kada Siddeshwara Mutt jatra. When asked about Mr. Parammeshwar’s comments, he said, “I wish him all the best.”

In the shadow of the leadership tussle, the party is holding a grand event in Haveri on February 14 to mark 1,000 days in office. Digital title deeds will be distributed to more than 1.1 million families in undisclosed dwellings to mark the day and are billed as the government’s “sixth guarantee”.

Two camps

Yathindra Siddaramaiah, MLC, has repeatedly claimed that his father and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will continue in office for the entire term, while supporters of Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar have repeatedly claimed that their leader will become the Chief Minister, claiming the support of a large number of MLAs.
