According to Home Minister Vangalapudi Anith, a total of 25,338 suspected mobile numbers linked to “digital arrest” and other cyber financial scams have been blocked in Andhra Pradesh.

Responding to questions raised by MLCs Kavali Greeshma Prasad, B. Tirumala Naidu and Bhumireddy Ramagopal Reddy in the Legislative Council on Friday, Ms. Anitha said the government had formulated a comprehensive, multi-pronged strategy to curb the growing incidence of cyber crime in the state.

She said the measures include awareness campaigns on new trends and reporting mechanisms, swift action through the cyber helpline ‘1930’ and a portal (cybercrime.gov.in) and mandatory registration of FIRs in cases involving losses exceeding ₹10 lakh. The helpline has also been enhanced with AI-based ICCMS technology, she said.

Ms. Anitha added that capacity building of police personnel in cyber investigation, digital evidence handling, forensic tools and money trail analysis is underway along with the creation of dedicated cyber crime units and police stations in all districts.

Highlighting awareness efforts, she said 1,596 programs were conducted in 26 districts in 2024-25, including 525 events in October 2025, which was marked as “cyber security and awareness month”. Special actions targeted senior citizens, women and retired employees to prevent “Digital Arrest” fraud.
