USA vs NED T20 WORLD CUP 2026: HIGHLIGHTS | SCORECARD
The United States of America (USA) desperately clung to their fading hopes of a Super 8 berth with a thrilling historic win over the Netherlands. They were languishing at the bottom of the table in Group A, with relegation staring them in the face. The odds were very high for the Americans, who had lost all their previous three T20Is against the Dutch.
But on Friday, February 13, with their campaign on the brink, Monanka Patel’s men rose to the occasion, played with fearless intent and defeated the Netherlands by 93 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Saiteja Mukkamalla and Harmeet Singh led the charge on a night where the USA played with confidence and looked completely in a league of their own.
Had the USA lost, they would have been the first team to be eliminated from the competition, and the victory would have been all the more significant. Netherlands, meanwhile, face a huge task in their final group game against Suryakumar Yadav’s India, a do-or-die showdown for them on February 18 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
MUKKAMALLA, RANJAN YOU LEAD GREATNESS
After being asked to bat first, the United States posted their highest T20I total against the Netherlands, amassing an impressive 196 for six, surpassing their previous best of 138 in Bulawayo in 2022. Despite only managing 20 runs, Shayan Jahangir provided the early pace at the top of the order.
Skipper Monank Patel, who slumped to single-figure scores against India and Pakistan, bounced back in style with a blistering 36 off 22 balls. Monank also combined with Saiteja Mukkamalla for the second wicket in a decisive 75-run partnership.

After Bas de Leede dismissed Monanka, Mukkamalla took control and brought up his half-century in just 30 balls. The 21-year-old scored a brilliant 79 off 51 deliveries and smashed five fours and four sixes before de Leede claimed his wicket.
De Leede was an outstanding bowler for the Dutch, returning figures of 4-0-37-3. After Mukkamalla’s dismissal, Shubman Ranjane stepped up brilliantly to remain unbeaten on 48 off 24 to take USA to the 200-run mark.
HARMEET IS RISING IN CHEPAUK
Netherlands lost an early wicket when Noshthush Kenjige removed Michael Levitt to draw first blood. Max O’Dowd and Bas de Leede then added momentum to the innings and helped the Dutch to 41 in the first five overs. However, once Harmeet Singh dismissed O’Dowd for 13, the innings began to unravel.
De Leede, who scored 23 off 17 balls, also fell to Harmeet, who enjoyed a dream outing. Harmeet tore through the Dutch batting line-up, finishing with excellent figures of 4-1-21-4. When he counted out Scott Edwards, the outcome of the match was practically sealed.
He received strong support from the ever-consistent Shadley van Schalkwyk, who further cemented his position as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with figures of 2.5-0-21-3. Leg-spinner Mohammad Mohsin also kept things going and returned figures of 3-0-19-0. Bowling together, the United States bowled out the Netherlands for 103 in 15.5 overs.
