“A proposal to create a municipal division”
Samajwadi Party MP from Ghazipur, Afzal Ansari, alleged that this was a systematic plan to create communal division in Uttar Pradesh and demanded that the Supreme Court take suo motu cognizance of the issue, which affected communal harmony. “An organized pattern is playing out across Uttar Pradesh to disrupt communal harmony and terrorize minorities. This mausoleum burning incident is the latest of many such incidents. The fact is that elements in the ruling BJP and RSS are encouraging such anti-social elements,” as the chief minister himself issued a joint statement asking Muslims to teach the majority community in strong words. Mr. Ansari.
The Congress said that by damaging such a structure, the environment and a symbol of harmony were destroyed, creating a wider religious divide. “Elements supported by the ruling ecosystem are working full-time to destroy the symbols of harmony where even Hindus go to pray. Their aim is to create a wider division on the lines of religion and the Fatehgarh incident is an example of this grand plan,” said Shahnawaz Alam, national secretary of the Congress.
