The FBI on Friday released new identifying information about the suspect who kidnapped Nancy Guthrie, the mother of American television journalist Savannah, amid reports that an Arizona sheriff is blocking her access to key evidence.
The investigative agency has also doubled its initial cash reward for information leading to a break in the case, as the 84-year-old remains missing for 13 days.
After forensic analysis of the doorbell camera footage at Nancy’s Tucson home, the FBI uncovered several identifying factors about the masked kidnapper with a gun in a holster in his waistband who was seen on her doorstep.
In a post on X, the FBI’s Phoenix office wrote: “New identifying details about the suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping have been confirmed following forensic analysis of doorbell camera footage by the FBI’s Operational Technology Division.
Nancy’s alleged abductor is a man, approximately 5’9″ to 5’10” tall, with an average build, the Phoenix FBI office said in sharing an image of the backpack he was wearing in the video with the doorbell. “In the video, he is wearing a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack.’
“We hope this updated description will help focus the public tips we are receiving,” the FBI said, adding that it was increasing the reward to $100,000.
“Today, the FBI is increasing its reward up to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance,” the FBI said.
