The state cabinet on Thursday approved the resumption of matches on the recommendation of a government-appointed committee headed by Greater Bengaluru Authority chief Maheshwar Rao. This happened after the conditional approval of the Ministry of the Interior on January 17.The permit paves the way for defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to host their Indian Premier League (IPL) matches here. The Karnataka government had earlier banned the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) from conducting games following the tragic stampede on June 4 last year outside the stadium during RCB’s IPL victory celebrations that claimed 11 lives.
