Nancy Guthrie’s Nextdoor post reads, ‘thinking about buying a doorbell camera’ — Here’s what mom Savannah Guthrie wrote | Today’s news

February 12, 2026

Authorities investigating the suspected kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie made several visits to her Arizona neighborhood over the weekend, ahead of a Monday evening deadline set by the alleged kidnappers, who sent ransom money demanding her release, the AP reported.

The investigation into the disappearance of Today show host Savannah Guthrie’s mother has now entered its second week, and it has yet to be confirmed whether the 84-year-old woman is still alive.

Over the weekend, Savannah Guthrie said the family was prepared to pay to secure their mother’s return.

According to a report by azcentral, Nancy Guthrie’s activity on the neighborhood app reflected her affection for wildlife, family and community, as well as her longtime residence in the Catalina foothills, which she affectionately called “Cat Five” or “Cat’s Leg 5.”

Her last post on the messaging platform Nextdoor was on December 28, when she asked if anyone was missing a package from Amazon. This was just one of only two contributions she made in 2025, the report said.

Here is what Nancy Guthrie posted on Nextdoor

Earlier on January 4, 2024, she asked, “Is it time to cover the plants?” referring to protecting her outdoor plants from frost.

Earlier on May 7, 2023, she wondered, “Will Javelina eat the firecracker plant?” She has rarely expressed concern about criminal activity, although she did post on September 4, 2020 about a stolen package.

She once wrote: “Male thieves. Package stolen from front door yesterday. Be on the lookout POSTAL DELIVERY,” highlighting rare crime concerns. On November 25, 2021, Guthrie asked about security cameras – not for security, but for wildlife monitoring.

“Thinking about buying a Ring or Nest security camera/doorbell? Any suggestions? Which one has the best camera? I’m wondering how to monitor animal activity at night,” she wrote.

Ironically, security cameras became the focus of the investigation. Google Nest footage released by authorities on February 10 shows the man tampering with its camera.

Has Nancy Guthrie been found?

No trace of Nancy Guthrie has yet been found, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Authorities suspect Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her home near Tucson. She was last seen on January 31 and went missing the following day after failing to attend church services.

DNA tests showed blood on Guthrie’s front porch matched hers, and her doorbell camera was disconnected early Sunday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said, according to the AP.

Authorities say they are increasingly concerned about Nancy Guthrie’s health because she needs daily medication. According to sheriff’s dispatcher audio on broadcastify.com, she is said to have a pacemaker and has been dealing with high blood pressure and heart problems, the AP reported.
