
The foundation stone of the World Trade Center (WTC) project to be implemented by Brigade Group was laid at the Technopark Phase I site on Wednesday. Planned as a global trade center to attract more international investment, the WTC will have 20 floors in addition to the ground floor and four basements, according to a press release.
Seeram Sambasiva Rao, Special Secretary, Department of Electronics and IT, attended the ceremony and unveiled the plaque. Meanwhile, Technopark CEO Sandip Kumar inaugurated Brigade Square, a 1.85 lakh sq ft IT building located near the center of the Technopark.
Mr. Kumar said the capital has good connectivity and talent for businesses to thrive. Technopark offers opportunities with the availability of land and space. In addition, the new IT policy will outline incentives for the industry. The problems of land shortage in Kochi Infopark can be solved by policy changes, he said.
MR Jaishankar, Executive Chairman, Brigade Enterprises Limited, said the WTC will be an iconic building that will strengthen the Technopark ecosystem. The company is also planning to expand at Infopark Kochi by adding another tower to the existing WTC, adding a total of one million square feet of IT office space including the existing operational towers at the WTC in Kochi, he said.
