More than 150 police officials from Hyderabad’s Charminar Police Zone on Wednesday (February 11, 2026) conducted a large-scale cordon and search operation in Rein Bazar police limits in an effort to enhance public safety and curb illegal activities.

Police teams, supported by armed personnel, combed the area, checking people with criminal records and checking vehicles and premises.

During the drive, 37 two-wheelers were detained for operating without a number plate or with an incorrect or unauthorized registration plate. Police said such violations not only violate traffic laws, but also raise concerns about their possible use in criminal activity.

Six rowdies – Syed Ali, Habeeb Sikander, Talib Khan, Jaffar Ali, Ali Hussain and Syeeduddin – were identified and taken in to verify their current activities. In addition, nine persons named in the suspicious letters, including Khaled, Sameer, Aziz Baba, Hyder Ahmed, Ibrahim, Ibrahim Khan, Syed Ali, Shaikh Mohammed and Azhar, were traced and their details were thoroughly verified.

The operation also led to the seizure of three knives, a hookah set, five packets of ganja and three small gas cylinders which were being stored or used illegally.

Charminar Zone DCP, Khare Kiran Prabhakar, while talking to the media, said that similar cordon and search operations would continue throughout the zone to maintain law and order and instil a sense of security among the residents.

The officer also urged residents to conduct proper background checks before renting their homes, warning that several offenders involved in property and violent crimes often try to secure accommodation, especially during the holiday season.
