The Horticultural Producers’ Cooperative Marketing and Processing Society (HOPCOMS), which offers a service that has become a monopoly of quick trade platforms, now plans to deliver vegetables and fruits to your doorstep. Although it promises quality vegetables and fruits, which is often a problem on a fast-casual platform, HOPCOMS will take 24 hours.

This is planned through their newly launched Farmers’ Post (Raithara Anche) initiative in collaboration with India Post. Earlier, Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Limited (KSMDMC) delivered mangoes to people’s doorsteps with the help of India Post. Officials at HOPCOMS are currently studying the vegetable market and the type of vegetables people prefer to consume across Bengaluru.

Mango delivered

Vinayak Reddy, General Manager, HOPCOMS Bengaluru, said, “From 29th May to 23rd June 2026, we were able to supply 936 boxes of mangoes, each consisting of three kg of mangoes and more than 12 boxes of mixed fruits, mainly imported like Apple Gala, South African Orange and Pears, Avacado, Kiwi and Banana fruit mix in The Litchi in The Banana initiative. June week 2026.” Now we plan to deliver fresh vegetables to the door step”.

He added, “We are currently studying the market trends and what vegetables people in Bengaluru prefer to eat. Once this study is complete, we will start supplying vegetables through our official website as well.”

Amitha Pandey, Technical Coordinator, HOPCOMS, explained how HOPCOMS plans to survive in a competitive market where many quick trade platforms also deliver fruits and vegetables, she said, “We are not going to compete with these platforms. While we understand that these platforms deliver in less than half an hour and we take 24 hours to deliver, ours is premium and premium fruits at HOPCOMS outlets. Moreover, we have received good response from people when we they sold mangoes through India Post.We have collected reviews from every customer. The delivery rate to any place is ₹93 which is less than when people send documents or articles from one place to another.

Only the best

To ensure that HOPCOMS gets premium products, the officials themselves check the vegetables and fruits supplied by the farmers, Mr. Vinayak explained. “Our officials go to APMC or KR Market almost every day. The vegetable auction starts at 3:00 am or 4:00 am. There we see the prices and quality of the vegetables so that we have a clear idea of the grades. We select the prime ones and the pricing committee sets the price accordingly. The prime ones are those that are uniform in size, have no scars or blemishes.

He also informed that HOPCOMS always pays farmers one to two rupees per kg more than the private traders in the market. “Around 9,000 farmers are registered with HOPCOMS. The farmers usually sell the remaining second-class or lower farmers to local retailers, APMCs or even mandis.”

Meanwhile, a senior official from India Post said, “We are happy that they have chosen us to deliver fruits and soon vegetables to people’s doorsteps. Unlike other platforms, even if it is one box of fruits, our postmen travel and deliver to the right address.”
