
Police at Mahalakshmipuram in the city recovered 10 stolen bikes worth ₹3.5 million. Two juveniles involved in the theft were caught and later handed over to their families.
According to the police, the accused allegedly stole two-wheelers parked in front of houses at night. One of the accused was nabbed when a patrol team from Mahalakshmipuram police station was on night patrols near 8th Cross, Andhrahalli Road. The suspect was taken to the station for questioning after he was found moving suspiciously on a bicycle.
During continuous questioning, the accused confessed that together with his friend, who is also a minor, he broke the locks of two-wheelers parked in front of houses at night and stole them from different parts of the city. He further revealed that nine of the stolen bikes were hidden in a vacant lot in Kamalanagar with the intention of selling them. Based on his information, the police seized the vehicles.
The police said that along with the mother, a co-worker of the accused, a 17-year-old juvenile, was summoned to the station. After the investigation, it was confirmed that he was involved in the crimes. He was given counseling and released to his mother in accordance with legal procedures.
The police thus detected seven cases of two-wheeler theft reported at Mahalakshmipuram, Basaveshwaranagar, Byadarahalli, Byatarayanapura and Kamakshipalya police stations. The owners of the three other bikes found have not yet been located.
