Andhra Pradesh State Food Commission member Lakshmi Reddy Endela on Wednesday directed Prakasam district officials to issue show-cause notices to the employees of Medarametla and Bodduvanipalem anganwadi centers in Korisapadu mandal.
He inspected the BC Colony Anganwadi center in Medarametla after learning that the children were not getting their daily milk or eggs every two days since February 1. When asked about the situation, anganwadi teacher Anuradha explained that the supplies had not yet arrived.
Mr. Lakshmi Reddy also asked about the implementation of the menu, to which the anganwadi superintendent Aruna Devi could not answer properly. He directed the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) to report the supervisor and teachers for negligence in the discharge of their duties.
He also conducted a surprise check at a grocery store in the same village. He instructed that the business should be run in accordance with the rules and warned that there should be no irregularities. After noticing water bubbles and other things in the store, he called on the concerned persons to remove them immediately.
Later, he inspected the implementation of Dokka Seethamma Mid-Day Meal program at Mandal Parishad Primary School in Bodduvanipalem. He himself served food to the students and inspected the two anganwadi centers on the premises.
Upon inspection, he noticed that the egg supply was in excess. One center had 93 eggs in January and the other 30 eggs. He inquired about the issue and directed the CDPO to issue show-cause notices to both the teachers and the management.
