Survey outline for rehabilitation of Pariyathukavu prepared by: Collector
According to District Collector G. Priyanka, a land plot has been prepared to rehabilitate seven Dalit families from Pariyathukavu settlement in Malayidamthuruth near Kizhakkambalam.
An inquiry sketch denoting five-cent plots each allotted to seven families on a 2.69-acre plot where they live has been handed over to the Advocate General for submission to the High Court, the Collector informed the District Development Committee meeting on Saturday (June 27, 2026).
The sketch will be handed over to the seven families and the High Court on Monday (June 29, 2026), an official release said.
The land was earmarked as part of the implementation of a rehabilitation package announced by the state government earlier this month to resolve a long-running dispute over land where seven families have resided for decades. The government stepped in following attempts to evict the families from their homes after the family won rights to the property following a long-running legal battle that escalated into a political crisis.
The landowner’s family and residents signed a settlement agreement on June 15 following negotiations initiated by the government. According to the agreement, families will receive five cents in the property where they live, and the government will build houses for them on designated plots of land with sponsorship funds.
