FanCode, which does not have its own TV channel, has started immediate talks with several providers to showcase India’s top division. Apart from Sony Sports Network, other considerations were Zee, DD Sports and regional providers in Kerala and Kolkata. However, the decision to go with Sony Sports was made considering that they already have a strong market base in place, while Zee is still struggling to find its footing since re-entering the sports broadcasting space last year. DD Sports was left as a last resort. While a verbal agreement was reached between FanCode and Sony Sports Network, the paperwork and final deal was delayed by legal reviews and clarifying revenue sharing. The contribution from Sony Sports will go to the All India Football Federation (AIFF), which organizes the league this season, and will be shared among the ISL clubs.
