
NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy, aimed at enhancing collaboration between industry and academia in applied research and technology development.
According to a press release, the Center for Applied Research and Development (CARD), NLCIL’s own research and development centre, has submitted an expression of interest inviting research proposals from leading academic institutions.
The initiative received an encouraging response and resulted in the signing of 13 MoAs with leading institutions including IISc, IITs and state universities. MoA with NIT Trichy is for development of new material for bucket teeth and their improvement.
The research project would cost ₹ 50.73 lakh and aims to develop advanced materials with increased wear resistance, corrosion resistance and toughness of wheel teeth. The project is expected to significantly increase lifetime, reduce downtime and optimize operational costs, NLCIL said.
