The Nancy Guthrie missing persons case took a big turn on Tuesday when authorities in the US detained a person of interest for questioning. Meanwhile, a heavy police presence was reported in the neighborhood of Annie Guthrie’s 84-year-old daughter’s residence.
CCTV footage has been released
The development comes hours after the FBI and its director, Kash Patel, released surveillance footage obtained from the night of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance showing a masked individual wearing a backpack and holster with a gun.
It is currently unclear if the person in custody has any connection to the individual in the surveillance footage. Authorities have not yet named a suspect, although speculation continues on social media.
The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie
Show host Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared from her home in Arizona on January 31, 2026 and has been missing ever since, with several ransom notes issued by her alleged kidnappers and several deadlines having passed since her disappearance.
The deadline to pay the $6 million ransom in bitcoins passed on Monday with no updates, and the investigation into the disappearance continues.
