Jagan accuses the TDP government of orchestrating the attack on the YSRCP leader

Reacting to the alleged attack on YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders during their visit to Amaravati on Saturday, party president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked whether Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was running the government or a “regime of morons”.

In a post on social media, Mr. Jagan said that former ministers, MLCs and other YSRCP leaders visited Amaravati on the invitation of farmers in the capital region. He asked if Mr. Naidu would go to the extent of “murdering democracy”.

Alleging that the attack was intended to suppress the truth, Mr. Jagan said it was aimed at preventing the plight of farmers, alleged corruption and looting in the name of Amaravati and the atrocities committed against them from coming to light.

He further alleged that some police officers themselves coordinated the attack and questioned whether standing by the farmers who were suffering because of the alleged excesses committed in the name of Amaravati had become a crime.

Mr. Jagan alleged that farmers who refused to part with their land were harassed through land acquisition notices while roads leading to their fields were damaged. He also alleged that water from Kondaveetivag was being diverted to their fields, making cultivation impossible.

He further alleged that despite their refusal to surrender the land, the reversionary plots were registered in the names of the farmers without their consent.

Claiming that thousands of acres have already been acquired for Amaravati, Mr Jagan questioned how much more land was required. He claimed that the additional land should have been divided between Mr. Naidu’s sons and his party leaders.

“The dangerous precedent you set today will invite an even stronger response tomorrow. People will not forgive you. Your government will be completely uprooted. YSRCP will never bow down to your policy of violence. We will continue to expose corruption and atrocities on amaravati farmers at every turn,” Mr. Jagan said.
