
A 22-year-old man was arrested in Goshamahal on Monday for illegally selling Indian Foreign Liquor (IMFL) without a valid license following a raid by Goshamahal police.
The arrested accused has been identified as Suryavamshi Adarsh, a resident of Jummerath Bazaar. Acting on a tip-off, officials conducted a search at a residence in Jummerath Bazaar on Monday morning. During the raid, the police seized a large quantity of IMFL and beer bottles stored in the premises.
The seized liquor included whiskey, brandy and beer of various brands in a total volume of 18.59 litres. Police said the accused confessed that he along with his mother Kavitha Bai and brother Yashpal Singh alias Pappu, who runs a pan shop in Jummerath Bazaar, used to buy liquor in bulk from various wine shops and sell it to customers at higher prices without permission to make a profit.
Further investigation revealed that Suryavamshi Adarsh ββis a repeat offender and was earlier booked in several cases under the provisions of Telangana State Excise Act at Goshamahal police station.
The accused was produced before a court in Nampally and remanded in judicial custody. Police said they are trying to track down and arrest the other accused named in the case.
