Expelled Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav has expressed solidarity with actor Rajpal Yadav, who is facing a long-running check bounce and loan default case, by announcing financial assistance ₹11 lakhs for the actor and comedian after learning about his financial problems.
Tej Pratap Yadav said he came to know about Rajpal Yadav’s plight after he came across a social media post shared by his elder brother Rao Inderjeet Yadav. The JJD chief stressed that the support was offered purely for humanitarian reasons, expressing his condolences and support to the actor and his family.
Sharing the message on X, Tej Pratap Yadav wrote, “I have just received information about the pain of honorable Rajpal Yadav ji’s family through my elder brother Rao Inderjeet Yadav ji.
At this extremely difficult time, I and my entire JJD (Jan Shakti Janata Dal) family stand in complete empathy and solidarity with their bereaved family.”
When announcing the financial assistance, he added: “In the spirit of human compassion and support, I am providing financial assistance on behalf of the JJD family ₹11,00,000 (Eleven Lakh Rupees) to their family.”
Rajpal Yadav surrenders in Tihar Jail
Earlier, the actor-comedian had surrendered in Tihar jail on February 5 after the Delhi High Court rejected his eleventh-hour plea seeking additional time in the check bounce and loan default case, which has been going on for several years.
The court took cognizance of his repeated disregard of the court’s directions and ordered him to serve six months in jail. The dispute, which dates back to 2010, involves unpaid fees that allegedly escalated to nearly ₹9 crore after the failure of his production venture Ata Pata Laapata.
What began more than a decade ago as a financial setback eventually turned into a protracted legal battle that culminated in the imprisonment of Rajpal Yadav despite multiple opportunities to settle the matter.
