The famous ‘Dodda Jathre’ of Srikanteshwara Temple in Nanjangud will be held on March 30. In this regard, a preparatory meeting chaired by Darshan Dhruvanarayan, Nanjangud MLA was held in the temple town on Monday to discuss arrangements for the annual yathre which attracts thousands of devotees
In the meeting, the MLA instructed the officials to make all necessary arrangements for the devotees and to prioritize cleanliness, drinking water supply, sanitation, power supply, health care, transport and security. He directed officials to ensure efficient waste management, uninterrupted supply of drinking water and installation of sufficient number of mobile toilets for the convenience of devotees.
Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikant Reddy said barricades should be erected and additional police personnel deployed to prevent stampedes as large crowds gather near the floats during the procession.
Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation officials have been directed to temporarily remove the overhead power lines along the cart routes and restore them after the festival is over. They were also directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Rathotsava, Teppotsava and other rituals.
The five cars will be technically inspected in advance to confirm their roadworthiness, and the roads along the car routes will be repaired and levelled. Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will run additional buses from March 29 to April 2.
