Two institutions and three personalities who have contributed to the social and cultural development of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry received the Rajasthan-Tamil Seva 2026 awards on Sunday.
Awardees include Sudha Seshayyan (academic leader, medical practitioner and cultural polyhistorian), B. Sargurunathan (Othuvar chief and custodian of Saiva musical heritage), Payir Trust (pioneer in holistic rural transformation), KR Raja (lawyer, community reformer and social architect) and Public Health Centre, Legantamcare Community-End MamDrive.
At the event, Supreme Court Justice R. Mahadevan, who was the chief guest, said that a society that recognizes its citizens for extraordinary services will be recognized globally.
Justice Mahadevan pointed out the efforts of the awardees to serve society: “It is a good idea to focus on empowering villages for national growth and development. It is an honor for the Rajasthan Association to recognize institutions that are working to conserve 800 water bodies, protect indigenous crops and provide nutrition to 35,000 children.”
This year, a panel of judges reviewed more than 200 nominations to select five honorees, which included individuals and institutions who embody integrity, commitment and lasting social impact. Each awardee was honored with a citation, a medal and a cash prize of ₹2,000 each.

The Eminent Jury included: Chairman: S. Gurumurthy (Editor, Thuglak), N. Ravi (Director, Kasturi and Sons Ltd.), Padma Vibhushan Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam (renowned exponent of Bharatanatyam), prof. Founder-Chairman, Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation).
Narendra Srisrimal, president of the association also spoke. The Rajasthan Association of Tamil Nadu was established in 1967.
