Zimbabwe marked their return to the T20 World Cup with a performance that spoke of resilience and renewal to a dominant eight-wicket victory over Oman at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. After desperately missing out on the 2024 edition, Zimbabwe put that disappointment firmly in the past and began their 2026 campaign with authority and purpose.
The contest was all but decided once Zimbabwe smashed Oman’s top order to leave them at 27 for five. From there, Oman scrambled and never found any rhythm or momentum. At no stage did they look like they were in control as the Zimbabwean bowlers dominated proceedings and created a straightforward chase which Zimbabwe completed with ease, reaching the target of 104 off 39 balls.
