A ride broke down at the Surajkund Mela in Faridabad, Haryana on Saturday, February 7. A police inspector who tried to rescue the people after noticing the ride tilting was declared dead and 13 others were injured, according to an ANI report.

Faridabad DC Ayush Sinha mentioned that an FIR will be filed against the ride operator. Explaining the incident to the news portal, Sinha said, “At about 6:15 pm, an unfortunate incident took place here. A ride broke down in Surajkand. About 13 people were injured in this incident. They were taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Immediately after the accident, traders and police officers from the surrounding areas rushed to help the victim. Among them was Inspector Prasad, a senior police officer and security in charge of the swing complex.

An eyewitness told the news portal that when he saw the swing coming down, people and police officers without fear for their safety rushed to the spot and pulled out the injured from the ride.

Sinha further said, “The police inspector was declared dead, he was trying to save people when the ride started tilting. But part of the ride hit him on the face and head. Others are undergoing treatment. Action will be taken against the operator… FIR will be registered and investigation will be conducted.”

After the incident, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased police inspector and informed that the authorities have been instructed to take proper care of the injured.

In a post on social media platform X Saini wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the accident that took place during the Surajkund Mela in Faridabad. My sincere condolences to the family of the person who lost their life in this incident. At the same time, necessary instructions have been issued to the concerned authorities for proper and immediate treatment of the injured individuals, with utmost commitment to provide all possible assistance and sensitivity to Haryana. injured and their families.”
