Medical colleges will be set up in every district in the state, says the minister

Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil will inaugurate the 30th annual conference of IAMM-KC in Yadgir on Saturday.

Medical Education and Skill Development Minister Sharan Prakash Patil said the state government intends to set up medical colleges in every district and Ramanagara and Bagalkot districts will soon get such colleges in the first phase.

Inaugurating the 30th Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists – Karnataka Chapter (IAMM-KC) here on Saturday, the minister said that currently 24 medical colleges are functioning in the state. “However, I aim to establish such colleges in every district. Every student from poor and working-class families should have access to higher education and become a doctor in the future. Therefore, the government intends to establish medical colleges across the state,” the minister said.

Yadgir district, which was carved out of Kalaburgi district a decade ago, has a nursing course and it was planned to make the district a health hub in future, said Dr. Patil added that patients coming here for treatment will be provided with any basic needs.

YIMS Dean VH Sandeep praised the minister for his encouragement and support in introducing the nursing course and said that YIMS had received sufficient grants from the government and everything was possible because of the support given by the minister.

MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur, Sridevi, Nawaz Umar, Siddesh and students from different districts were present.
