February 7, 2026

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday (February 6, 2026) stepped in to ensure immediate medical attention to a two-year-old child from Hyderabad diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and directed officials to extend full government support.

According to a post by the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office on X, the chief minister was responding after being informed about the condition of child Phinehas, who is suffering from B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a form of bone marrow cancer. He directed the officials to take urgent measures to ensure that the child gets the required medical attention without delay.

The case was brought to the attention of Hyderabad-based social activist Robin Zaccheus, who sent an appeal to X on February 5 seeking urgent help. He said the child had started chemotherapy at Little Stars Hospital, but the entire course of treatment would cost ₹12 lakh, which the below-poverty family could not afford. “Doctors have indicated a 90% cure rate if treatment is continued urgently,” he said.

As directed by the Chief Minister, officials contacted the family and recommended that the child be admitted to the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute. The cost of treatment will be borne by the state. The chief minister also said that a letter of credit would be issued to facilitate the process and prevent any financial hurdles.
