Commuters across Delhi may face traffic restrictions as the Delhi Traffic Police on Monday, February 9, announced traffic restrictions and diversions at several places in connection with an official function at the Mahatma Gandhi Smriti Sthal in Rajghat.

According to the notice, special traffic measures will be in place on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., during which diversions will be imposed depending on the movement of dignitaries.

As per the advisory, commuters may face diversions at some key points including ITO Chowk, Delhi Gate, Guru Nanak Chowk, Shanti Van Chowk and IP Flyover.

Which areas could be affected?

A Delhi Traffic Police adviser said the following diversions are likely:

— Probable diversions at ITO Chowk, Delhi Gate, Guru Nanak Chowk, Shanti Van Chowk and IP Flyover

— Restrictions and diversions may also be imposed on sections such as:

  • Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg,
  • Shanti Van Chowk till IP Flyover,
  • Delhi Gate to NS Marg,
  • Shanti Van Chowk of Nishad Raj Marg, a
  • the stretch from Rajghat DTC depot to Ring Road bypass,
  • and surrounding roads.

— Regulations may also apply to BSZ Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Nishad Raj Marg and nearby stretches

— Surrounding roads may also be affected

What the public consultation says

Commuters traveling to New Delhi Railway Station and New Delhi District have been advised to plan ahead.

Motorists were urged to remain patient, obey traffic laws and cooperate with traffic police stationed at key intersections, the advisory said.

Traffic diversions on February 7

The Delhi Traffic Police also announced traffic diversions on Saturday, February 7 in connection with the inaugural function of the Alumni Association, Faculty of Law at North Campus, Delhi University.

Special traffic arrangements will be in place on Saturday from 4pm to 9.30pm, the advisory said.

The Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to note the following:

– Monitor traffic diversions, plan their route in advance

– Emergency vehicles will be supported

– Stay informed through Delhi Traffic Police channels.
