February 7, 2026

‘Kavach 4.0’, an indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, has been approved for 1,242 km and work is underway to award a tender for 410 km under South Central Railway (SCR).

ATP has been deployed over 627 km in the zone and about 499 railway flyovers and underbridges have been constructed in the last 10 years, significantly reducing level crossings and improving safety for both rail and road users, an official release said on Thursday.

Stating that infrastructure projects are gaining momentum across Telangana, including three high-speed rail corridors approved in the current budget, he said more than 900 kilometers of new tracks have been constructed in the state during this period.

Telangana is now a 100% rail electrified state with 1115 km electrified and 900 km of new tracks built, while projects like Peddapalli–Nizamabad, Jaggayyapeta–Janpahad, Akkanpet–Medak and Bhadrachalam Road–Sattupalli have brought remote regions into the rail network. The ₹521 crore manufacturing unit at Kazipet is nearing completion with the capacity to manufacture various types of rolling stock such as buses and trainsets.
