Khammam panchayat secretary arrested by ACB while accepting ₹25,000 bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested a panchayat secretary in Khammam district for accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 for processing a building permit and allotting a house number.
The accused, Thammisetty Suresh, panchayat secretary of Bhanapuram Gram Panchayat in Mudigonda mandal, was nabbed from Khammam ACB area near Rythu Vedika in Mudigonda.
According to the ACB, the official demanded ₹25,000 from the complainant for processing and granting planning permission and allotment of a house number for a one-room tin-roofed house being built on a five-gunta plot in Bhanapuram village.
The tainted money was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested and produced before the Special Court for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal.
The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons. The case is under investigation.
