With the assembly elections just a few months away, the Directorate of Higher Education has directed universities and colleges in Kerala to organize student consultation programs as part of the Navakerala Citizen Response Program of the state government.
In formal communication, institutions were instructed to conduct group discussions of students to gather suggestions and ideas on governance and development. The consolidated proposals will have to be uploaded on the citizen response program portal to formulate the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s Vision 2031 policy.
The directive comes on the heels of a meeting chaired by the Special Secretary of the Information and Public Relations Department on Wednesday, during which modalities for student participation were finalised.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) has been designated as the nodal agency for organizing programs at the university level. Additionally, details of students who have registered on the portal and are willing to participate in household surveys must be forwarded to the state level program coordinator.
Vision 2031
The release also noted that the state government’s Vision 2031 seminars aimed at building Kerala as a “progressive and developed state by 2031” will begin from February 15. Colleges have been instructed to complete student-level discussions and upload consolidated proposals on the portal before this date.
The order has been circulated to all major universities including Kerala University, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Calicut University, Kannur University and other higher education institutions.
