Indian pacer Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after sustaining an injury during the team’s warm-up match against South Africa in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday, sources told India Today.

Rana sustained the injury during India’s T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up match against South Africa. He broke out of his run twice before clutching his knee and limping off the field. The right-handed pacer skipped just one ball and scored 16 runs.

An official statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India on the severity of his injury is still awaited.

India are without Washington Sundar, who missed the New Zealand series due to a side strain, but remains part of the squad and is expected to return in time. Earlier, Tilak Varma missed the series against the Kiwis but has since returned to fitness and appeared in two warm-up matches.

India will play their opening match against the USA at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on February 7.
