The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will construct an underpass under the existing railway bridge at Baikampady to facilitate vehicular movement between National Highway 66 and Baikampady Industrial Area, NHAI Mangaluru Project Director Abdulla Javed Azmi said on Thursday.
Addressing a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee here, Mr. Azmi said the NHAI headquarters had approved the proposal and the tender process was underway. According to him, earlier approved works at the site have lapsed due to delays in starting work. The underpass contains two concrete boxes that would be built using the box push method, he said.
He also informed that work on six-lane Kulur Bridge over Phalguni (Gurupura) river is progressing rapidly and soon part of the bridge will be completed. The Kulur-Baikampady section of NH 66 should be six-lane with service roads, he added.
