Former minister and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao took strong exception to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s language, calling it vulgar and an attempt to divert attention from the failure of his government during the last two-and-a-half years.
Mr. Rao disputed the Chief Minister’s claim of introducing loan waivers and issuing ₹25,000 crore in interest-free loans. He urged the Chief Minister to present evidence publicly and said that the current government only continued the earlier BRS program of interest-free loans of ₹5,000.
At a press conference at the Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, Mr. Rao leveled a series of allegations against the Congress government, saying it had neglected farmers, abandoned key welfare programs and pushed the state back.
He expressed strong displeasure over Revanth Reddy’s comments at a public meeting, terming them disturbing and unbecoming of a Chief Minister. He claimed that the civil society was also outraged by the tone and choice of words used by the Chief Minister. “Political criticism is common, but a person holding the position of chief minister should stand for values. But Mr. Reddy is resorting to foul language to cover his incompetence,” he alleged.
Defending former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, Mr. Rao said that the development and aspirations of Telangana were realized under the leadership of KCR. He credited the former CM for implementing several flagship programs like Rythu Bandhu. He claimed that during Revanth Reddy’s government, there was one scam per month in Telangana.
Responding to Revanth’s criticism of the SLBC tunnel work, Mr. Rao said the BRS government had completed 11.5 km of tunnel between 2014 and 2023, excluding the pandemic years. He claimed that the current government has not completed even 100 meters.
