
Krishna Superintendent of Police V. Vidyasagar Naidu compared the fake currency notes with the original currency in Machilipatnam on Wednesday.
The Kruthivenn police detected the counterfeit notes and arrested four persons who were allegedly involved in the crime. They seized fake notes of about ₹6,000 denomination, ₹6,000 in genuine notes and electronic equipment used to print fake notes.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday (February 4), Superintendent of Police V Viayasagar Naidu said the accused have been identified as T. Ranjith Kumar of Narsipatnam, B. Uma Shankar of Srikakulam, A. Dileep and P. Rajasekhar, natives of Seetanapalli village, Krishna district. They were arrested by a team led by Kruthivennu Circle Inspector Nagendra Prasad.
The accused printed the fake currency notes in Visakhapatnam district and circulated them at various places in the state, the SP said.
“The main accused, Ranjith Kumar, was wanted in one case of smuggling of ganja and four cases of counterfeit money,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Machilipatnam, Ch. Raja, who heads special teams formed to crack down on counterfeit currencies.
