Exhibition to honor the legacy of Narasimha Rao

The Prime Ministers Museum and Library (PMML) will celebrate the 105th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on Saturday (June 27, 2026) with an exhibition featuring a collection of rare photographs, official documents, speeches, correspondence and archival material tracing the journey of the late former Prime Minister.

As part of its regular activities, the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya showcases the lives, visions and contributions of various Prime Ministers of India since independence and has started celebrating the birthdays of various Prime Ministers. The PMML said in a statement the 105th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao at the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya on June 27, 2026.

Mr. Rao was born on June 28, 1921 in Warangal district of present day Telangana.

The exhibits will highlight his leadership at a critical phase in India’s history and his role in ushering in the landmark economic reforms of liberalization, privatization and globalization that changed the national economic landscape.

The exhibition will also explore the multifaceted personality of Mr. Rao as a scholar, freedom fighter, reformer and visionary statesman. Visitors will get an insight into his contributions to governance, diplomacy, economic transformation and nation-building, as well as his intellectual and literary activities.

The exhibition will also include selected archival records, personal correspondence, speeches, photographs and audio-visual presentations that will allow visitors to gain a deeper understanding of Mr Rao’s life, vision and legacy.

Through this exhibition, the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya seeks to celebrate the enduring legacy of the statesman, who is often remembered as the architect of modern, globalized India, and promote greater awareness of his contribution among students, researchers and the general public, a senior culture ministry official said.

The exhibition will be open to visitors from June 27 at the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya in New Delhi.
