India’s Ishan Kishan has seen a significant rise in the latest ICC Men’s T20I batsman rankings, climbing 32 places to 32nd after an impressive comeback series against New Zealand.
Kishan wasted no time in making an impact on his return to international cricket as he scored 76, 28 and 103 in the three game series. His consistency at the top of the order was reflected in a sharp jump up the rankings.
There was also movement in the top 10 for the T20I batter. India’s Abhishek Sharma continues to hold the top spot at the summit, while England captain Jos Buttler has moved up to third. Sri Lankan starter Pathum Nissanka climbed to fifth, Indian Suryakumar Yadav to sixth and New Zealander Tim Seifert to ninth.
South African batsman Ryan Rickelton was one of the biggest movers in the list, jumping 42 places to 40th. Australian all-rounder Cameron Green climbed 16 places to 14th, while Proteas batsman Quinton de Kock gained 15 places to 22nd.
In the T20I bowling rankings, England pacer Adil Rashid moved up two places to fourth, while New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner jumped eight places to level at 23rd. Both are expected to play a key role for their respective sides in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Seven different teams are represented in the top 11 of the T20I batsmen’s rankings, underscoring the depth of competition in the global event.
Meanwhile, Pakistan opener Saim Ayub regained the No. 1 position in the ICC T20I Men’s All-rounder rankings after a strong home series against Australia. Ayub returned to the top after a 3-0 whitewash of Pakistan, replacing veteran Zimbabwean Sikandar Raza.
The 23-year-old scored 119 runs and took three wickets during the series, giving Pakistan some early momentum ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Pakistan’s progress was further reflected in the bowling rankings, with spinner Abrar Ahmed climbing two places to second and closing in on India’s Varun Chakravarthy’s 28-point rating after taking six wickets against Australia. Left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz also made gains as he rose eight places to seventh after a five-wicket haul in the final match of the series.
Nawaz has moved up one place to fourth in the all-rounders’ rankings, while Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and Ayub have seen notable rises in the T20I batsmen’s list, capping a positive week for Pakistan in the ICC rankings ahead of the tournament, which begins on February 7.
