The US president berated a CNN reporter when she asked him if Epstein’s survivors had received justice. He called her the “worst” reporter and said: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smile on your face.”
During a question-and-answer session in the Oval Office on Feb. 3, a reporter asked Trump, “What would you say to (Epstein survivors) who feel they didn’t get justice?
In response, Trump criticized her, saying: “You are the worst reporter…she’s a young woman…I’ve known you for ten years. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smile on your face.”
He continued: “Do you know why you are not smiling? Because you know you are not telling the truth. You are a very dishonest organization – and they should be ashamed of you.”
‘Time to move on’
Earlier, when asked about Epstein, Trump said: “It’s time for the country to move on to something else … it was a conspiracy against me by Epstein.”
“Nothing has come out about me other than that it was a conspiracy against me, literally, by Epstein and other people. But I think now is the time for the country to maybe get on with something else, like health care or something that people care about,” Trump said.
His statement came even as the release of the controversial Epstein Files left a prominent British politician facing a criminal investigation on the other side of the Atlantic.
Former British ambassador to Washington Peter Mandelson has resigned from the upper house of parliament amid allegations he passed confidential information to the late sex offender Epstein.
Documents released by the US Department of Justice suggest that Epstein was sent internal discussions from the heart of the British government after the global financial crisis, Sky News reported.
The fallout from the latest release of millions of documents linked to Epstein continued in the United States, where former President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary will testify in Congress later this month.
