The newly created Markapuram district is facing problems in providing basic infrastructure for the district headquarters. Although the district was established almost a month ago, it is lagging behind due to lack of office buildings for various departments in the headquarters.
Meanwhile, the district administration plans to convert a school building into a collector’s office at Goguladinne village in Markapuram mandal. The school building, which was unoccupied, will now be converted into an office building for the District Collector, Joint Collector and District Revenue Officer. The entire Collectorate will currently operate temporarily from the building. The district administration is also taking steps to provide the building to the police inspector.
Markapuram Joint Collector Puli Srinivasulu said they have identified 25 acres of vacant land to build all the government complexes required for the district headquarters, adding that the construction work on the buildings will start soon.
Mr. Srinivasulu also said that the district administration has been providing administration without any disruption in civic services since the formation of the district. The government has currently appointed Prakasam District Collector and SP in charge of the newly created area.
