50 students of Bidar in hospital after eating lunch

As many as 50 students of a government primary school in Jamlapur village of Aurad taluk in Bidar district were taken to a government hospital on Tuesday when they complained of restlessness after consuming mid-day meal.

Of the 50 students brought to the Aurad Taluk Hospital for observation, 20 were found to be suffering from severe stomach pain and vomiting and were admitted for treatment, while the rest were discharged after preliminary medical examination.

Health Director Taluk Gayatri said the condition of the admitted students is stable.

“There could have been some problem with the mid-day meal. Investigations are underway to find out the exact cause,” she said.

Aurad Tahsildar Mahesh Patil and midday program officials visited the hospital and took stock of the situation.

They said all students are out of danger. They are closely monitored.
