Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Secretary MV Govindan on Tuesday alleged that E Sreedharan’s move to open an office in Ponnani was aimed at deceiving the public and said there was little chance of the Center approving his program as the Union Railway Minister was silent on the issue.
Addressing the media in Pazhayangadi during the party’s Vikasana Munnetta Jatha, Mr. Govindan said that no one should expect central approval for Mr. Sreedharan’s initiative unless the Railway Ministry gave any official assurance.
Referring to the controversy surrounding the martyr’s fund, Dhanaraj said the party had no intention of releasing the accounts before the release of V. Kunhikrishnan’s book. The CPI(M) will not glorify Mr. Kunhikrishnan, who has been expelled from the party, but will present all relevant details regarding the fund to the public.
He claimed that the party was keeping proper accounts and that all the data had already been submitted within the organization and would be made public.
Mr. Govindan dismissed the need to investigate Mr. Kunhikrishnan’s claims, saying that putting baseless allegations in the book could trigger legal action.
On the ongoing SIT probe in the Sabarimala gold theft case, Mr. Govindan said that with the arrest of Tantri, the investigation is now moving towards the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. He termed the Leader of Opposition’s statement about the SIT investigation as “totally baseless”.
