
Criticizing Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said it was unfortunate that the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha was trying to mislead the nation about the India-US trade deal. Rahul Gandhi, Goyal said, has nothing to do with India’s progress.
“I wanted to provide information about the US-India trade agreement in Parliament, but. Rahul Gandhi, the opposition has behaved so shamefully,” Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said at a press conference in the capital on Tuesday.

President Trump announced on Monday evening (IST) that India and the US have agreed to a trade deal under which Washington will reduce reciprocal tariffs on Indian goods to 18 per cent from the current 25 per cent. Trump said this after a phone conversation with Prime Minister Modi, who announced US Ambassador to India Sergio Gorwho joined last month.
“They have no interest in making India the fastest growing economy in the world. During the ten years of Congress rule in the UPA governmentthey destroyed the economy, disturbed the people and stopped development,” the minister said.
After Trump’s announcement on Truth Social, Prime Minister Modi wrote in an X post that he was pleased that “products made in India will now have a reduced duty of 18%.
