CM reviews Musi Riverfront project, calls for public outreach and equitable rehabilitation
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to ensure comprehensive rehabilitation of families living along the Musi riverbed and expedite land acquisition for the first phase of the ambitious Musi Riverfront Development Project through a combination of compensation and Transferable Development Rights (TDR).
While reviewing the project, the Chief Minister discussed the progress of the first phase of the project with senior officials.
The meeting was attended by Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Vem MP Narender Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited Managing Director Narsimha Reddy and senior officials of the Municipal Administration Department.
The chief minister directed officials to allot two-bedroom houses to all eligible families currently living in the Musi river bed under the rehabilitation programme.
While acquiring land, he directed officials to offer Transferable Development Rights (TDRs) to landowners who are willing to accept them or provide monetary compensation as per government norms.
Mr. Revanth Reddy also directed that structures located on defense lands proposed to be used for the Gandhi Sarovar project should be relocated by the state government to facilitate implementation without delay.
To improve public awareness and participation, the Chief Minister proposed the establishment of Musi Experience Center at Necklace Road. The center will showcase the various components of the Musi Riverfront Development Project, including planned works and a long-term vision for river rejuvenation and urban redevelopment.
He further instructed officials to create mechanisms in the proposed center to gather public feedback and suggestions for the project, stressing the importance of citizen participation in shaping one of Hyderabad’s biggest urban renewal initiatives.
