The Kalaburagi district unit of the Karnataka Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Advocates Awareness Association has urged lawyers not to represent a man arrested for posting defamatory content against BR Ambedkar and other leaders from marginalized communities on social media.
In a letter to the Kalaburagi Bar Association, the association’s district president Vinodkumar Kamble said the accused Anand Anjanappa, a native of Bengaluru, who runs a Facebook account called Gulamara Appa, was arrested by the sub-urban police for posting defamatory remarks against Dr. Ambedkar and the Constitution.
He stated that a criminal complaint was filed against the accused at the same police station last year as well. He reiterated that the association demands that no lawyer appear in court on its behalf.
