Noida: A disturbing video showing a man harassing women from his car has gone viral, sparking widespread outrage online and prompting swift police action in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The clip, allegedly filmed by one of the women involved, shows a man driving a red MG Hector SUV repeatedly making obscene gestures towards female passengers in a neighboring vehicle. In the 17-second video, the man is seen blowing flying kisses, waving excessively and pointing at the camera while another man sits in the back seat.
According to the police, the accused followed the women from a considerable distance, raising concerns about safety on public roads. The incident reportedly took place near Parthala Bridge in Noida, as reported by NDTV.
After video gained traction on social media, Noida Police took suo motu cognizance of the matter. Both the accused – residents of Sector 135 – were arrested and the vehicle used in the incident was seized.
The Internet is responding
The video sparked strong reactions across platforms, with users calling the act blatant harassment and questioning the growing sense of impunity shown by some motorists. Many social media users criticized what they described as “street-level bullying” and warned against the normalization of such behavior under the guise of casual mischief.
One user wrote: “Houses roam free knowing they will be protected. In Noida, a family is openly harassed on the street, no fear of police, no consequences.”
Another user wrote, “Two men in a car making lewd remarks and blowing a fleeting kiss to a family traveling in the other car. This is Noida, UP’s fastest growing city, attracting investment due to alleged improved law and order.”
Several posts tagged Uttar Pradesh police, Noida police and traffic authorities and urged for strict punishment to prevent similar incidents. Others have highlighted a worrying trend of reckless and offensive acts carried out for attention, often recorded and shared online.
The incident has also reignited conversations about the safety of women in urban spaces, especially during the daily commute. Commentators have highlighted that road harassment – whether verbal, gestural or physical – is often under-reported despite being deeply traumatic for victims.
The Noida case follows a similar episode reported last month involving social media influencer Neetu Bisht. She alleged that unknown men followed her car from DND Flyway to Greater Noida and harassed her repeatedly. In a video that later surfaced online, Bisht could be heard urging the driver to stop the car, saying she felt unsafe and scared.
Her husband later claimed the men had broken into their vehicle twice. The police arrived at the scene and called upon the accused to apologise; however, no formal case was registered.
Together, the incidents have renewed calls for tougher enforcement, faster response and zero tolerance for harassment in public spaces.
