February 2, 2026

A police inspector was injured in a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) protest in Khammam on Sunday.

Two-city circle inspector Khammam Karunakar suffered a fractured left hand in a mild scuffle that broke out during the BRS protest against the Special Investigation Team (SIT) notice to party founder and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, police said.

The incident occurred when the police tried to foil an attempt by BRS cadres to set fire to an effigy of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during a protest demonstration.

The Khammam dual-city police registered a case against several protesters and launched a detailed investigation.

Earlier, BRS cadres took part in a motorcycle rally before staging a demonstration in the city.
