India on Saturday strongly rejected the mention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in investigative files relating to Jeffrey Epstein, calling it “nothing more than the meaningless musings of a convicted criminal” that deserved to be rejected with “the utmost contempt”.
US authorities have released the latest files on a convicted sex trafficker.
“We have seen reports of an email message from the so-called Epstein files that has reference to the prime minister and his visit to Israel,” Foreign Office spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said in a statement.
“Apart from the fact that the Prime Minister made an official visit to Israel in July 2017, the other insinuations in the email are little more than the inane musings of a convicted criminal that deserve to be rejected with the utmost contempt,” he said.
The email is among investigative files released by the US Justice Department on Friday.
The Department has released 3.5 million pages and 2,000 videos in accordance with the US Act, which was passed by the US Congress.
