The league stage of the WPL 2026 is only one match old, but the fate of three teams hangs in the balance. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have already secured their place in the final while Gujarat Giants have confirmed their place in the Eliminator.
On Sunday, February 1 Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz will face each other in their final league game at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, a game that could dramatically shape the playoff picture.
For the Capitals and Warriorz, it’s all in their hands. A win for either side can decide the advance, while the losing side will be eliminated. Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, have reason to be anxious.
After their narrow 11-run defeat to Gujarat Giants on Friday, the two-time champions now remain hopeful of a favorable result elsewhere. If they fail to qualify, it will be the first time MI have missed the playoffs in four seasons, ending a remarkable run.
Gujarat Giants will also be watching the result closely and are eager to know who they will face in the Eliminator on Tuesday, February 3 in Vadodara. Meanwhile, RCB will enjoy a week’s break before entering the final on February 5, fully rested and ready to challenge for the title.
Here is the qualifying scenario for MI, DC and UP Warriorz
Capital Delhi
If DC beat UP Warriorz in their last league match, they will qualify for the finals. However, a loss would knock them out of the competition.
Bombay Indians
MI will be eliminated if DC win their last league match against UP Warriorz. MI will also be eliminated if UP Warriorz beat DC by more than 156 runs or chase down the target of 64 runs in 1.5 overs.
UP Warriorz
For UP Warriorz, the equation is clear: they have to beat DC by more than 156 runs or chase down the target of 64 runs in 1.5 overs. Anything less and they will be eliminated.
