
Students should acquire technical knowledge, engage in research and work to improve the quality of life using technology, said Associate Professor, Vignan Foundation, B. Jyothsna Devi.
She was speaking at the inaugural session of the ’24 Hour Hackathon’, organized by the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, PB Siddhartha Arts and Science College, Vijayawada, at the university’s webinar hall.
Renowned robotics research engineer and HackBots CEO SRK Mahan said that students who keep improving their skills will have a bright future. Mr. Mohan also inaugurated the Laboratory of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, established under the Center of Excellence at the college.
The Department of Data Science has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HackBots under which the organization will provide robotics and artificial intelligence training to students over the next three years and extend support for incubation and innovation to startups.
As many as 200 engineering students and universities from Visakhapatnam and Chennai are participating in the hackathon. Of these, 20 teams compete in the AI and machine learning hackathon, 15 teams in application development and 40 teams in the open innovation category. Cash prizes worth ₹ 60,000 will be awarded to teams that successfully complete the given tasks.
College Convenor and Siddhartha Academy Joint Secretary N. Lalita Prasad, Principal Vemuri Baburao, Principal Meka Ramesh, Head of Data Science K. Udayasree and others were present.
