DMK president and former chief minister MK Stalin said on Friday (June 26, 2026) that no decision has yet been taken on the bypoll candidature in the Assembly.
Recently, DMK strongman KN Nehru said that Mr Stalin will soon re-enter the Assembly. This sparked speculation that the DMK president was likely to contest from the Tiruchi East seat vacated by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, who retained the Perambur constituency.
When reporters asked Mr. Stalin about this in Chennai, he said, “No decision has been taken yet. I will let you know when the decision is taken.”
