Excavation at the ancient village of Lakkundi in Gadag district entered its 13th day on Friday.
While Friday’s dig yielded no relics, a live snake was spotted and captured by staff before work began.
However, the development expanded the story of a “serpent guarding the treasure” at the site, a belief that has been in circulation since time immemorial.
Thursday’s excavation yielded some relics and several bone fragments.
Among the relics found, a stone slab with a carving of a three-headed serpent with a crown stood out. A terracotta token was also found.
